Video Tutorial

The Allergies module displays patient allergy information for patient visits. Allergies are also flagged with icons in the patient header. To access the Allergies module, click the Allergies option in the Clinical Modules menu or click the Allergies icon Red icon for allergies in the patient header.

The following table provides a summary of some of the key features of the Allergies module.

An Allergies icon is displayed in the patient header if any allergy information has been documented to the patient’s record:

  • Allergies icon (red) - Specific allergies have been added to the patient’s record
  • No known allergies icon (blue) - No known allergies have been added to the patient’s record.
  • Allergies Not Documented/Collected icon (yellow) - No allergies have been added to the patient’s record, or allergy information is currently not available.


Displays Coded Allergies as Yes or No (no indicates it is a free text addition

Smart Filter

Text typed in the Smart Filter Search box narrows the list of results to display only those related to text you entered.

In the example above, the Smart Filter Search box was used to narrows the list of allergies to display only Morphine or Codeine. The user entered morph, code which will search the allergies list grid for any text that included morph OR cod.

All other results were filtered out and do not display in the products list view until the contents of the Smart Filter are cleared.

Allergy Severity 

Displays the full allergy severity:

  • Mild
  • Intermediate
  • Severe


Viewing Allergy Details

Allergy results are displayed in a sortable list. Click the row of the allergy you want to view to see even more details about the allergy.

Click the Close button close button to return to the Allergy list view.

Allergies Preferences

Module Preferences are used to customize how you want to view information presented in the Allergies module to suit your clinical viewing needs. Preferences need only be set once, and can be easily be updated anytime as your clinical needs change.

The Allergies module has it’s own set of preferences that can be accessed and configured by clicking the Preferences button preference button in the module header or by using the Preference Setup Wizard.

After updating your preference settings, click the Save & Apply button apply button to save your changes.

The following table provides a summary of all available preference settings:

Default Detail Location

Allows you to set the default location of the Details window: 

  • Bottom –Details are displayed below the results list.
  • Top –Details are displayed to the right of the results list

Sort By

Customize which column you would prefer your orders to be sorted by. 

Remember to also set the Sort Direction as shown below.

List: PDF Export Orientation

Allows you to configure the PDF page orientation when exporting the list of Risks t. Options include Portrait or Landscape orientation.

After setting the Sort By column, you can select to sort the data in Ascending or Descending order. 

a tip icon If the Sort By column uses a date (numeric) field, selecting Descending order will display the most recent allergy at the top of the Orders list. 

a tip icon If the contents of the Sort By column uses characters A through Z (for example the Order Procedure column) setting the Sort Direction to Ascending will order results alphabetically from A to Z. Setting the Sort Direction to Descending will order results from Z to A.
