ClinicalConnect Training Environment - Notice of Updates version 5.1
Please be advised that ClinicalConnect has been upgraded to version 5.1, and these updates have also been applied to the portal’s Training Environment. The following provides a summary of important new features designed to continuously optimize the user experience.
1. A new Preference Setup Wizard: This Wizard steps users through how to set the values associated with how they prefer to retrieve and view data in ClinicalConnect. Users can select different options for desktop and mobile devices, as well as when using the portal's Patient Dashboard. Preferences only need to be set and saved once, and will be retained for all subsequent uses. Should preferences need to be changed in the future, use the Preferences option within each module and Census List, or return to the Wizard anytime you are logged into ClinicalConnect by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the screen and selecting 'Preference Setup Wizard'. All users will be prompted to complete the Preference Setup Wizard the first time they log in. You can close the prompt window and complete the setup at another time if you prefer, but we encourage all users to take a moment to review the new preference setting options available in version 5.1 to ensure selected preferences will best optimize access to their patients' health records.)
2. Rolled-up Search Results: When using ClinicalConnect's Simple Search functionality on desktop devices, patient search results now display in a rolled-up list view if the patient has visits at multiple facilities across Ontario, making the search results list shorter and more efficient. The search results will roll up the patient's encounters only when there is an exact match of the patient's Last Name, Date of Birth and Health Card Number across all encounters. If there is a mismatch in any of the three matching criteria, the patient's non-matching record(s) will not roll up and will remain listed as separate line items. The rolled-up search results will display the most recent encounter from the source facility as the first line item.
In addition, information about a third new feature is provided below, however it is not currently enabled in ClinicalConnect’s Training Environment. Additional communications will follow, when this feature is made available.
3. Email Notifications when patients have new results: ClinicalConnect users (initially at Hamilton Health Sciences, with broader deployment to follow) will be able to subscribe to receive notifications by email when new results become available in select modules in their patients' record. This notification functionality is built on the existing New Results module which aggregates new results from direct data integrations with select acute care hospitals in south west Ontario; provincial repository data does not currently support the New Results/Notifications feature. No Personal Health Information (PHI) or Personal Information (PI) is included in the email itself. As mentioned above, a separate communication to ClinicalConnect Trainers will follow once enabled, describing how to demonstrate/train users in your organization about how they’d use this functionality in the live/Production environment.
